1-Which countries do immigrants generally come from?
Immigrants in Denmark are usually from the Middle East; there is also a lot from Turkey.
2-Which are the most frequent reasons for which they moved?
The most common reason the immigrants leave their home country is war and political issues.
3-When they arrive is it easy for them to get a residence permit?
Until 2001 it was easy for immigrants to get a permit, but after that it was a lot harder.The new government has introduced a much harder politic, concerning immigrants.
4-What kind of jobs do they get?
They mostly get the low paying jobs, at supermarkets, pizzerias etc.
5-Do they have any problems at school?
Many of them have problems, the Danish language is hard to learn, and most of them don’t try to integrate in the Danish society. 3 out of 4 youngsters getting arrested in Copenhagen is immigrants. That is very worrying.
6-What should the government do to help immigrants to integrate better?
The government should apply to the Danish people to be more tolerant and open to immigrants. They should also give them better jobs, if they are qualified for them.
7-In your country are there any associations which take care of
migrants' problems?
We have and immigration ministry that provides with help to immigrants.
8-Are people discriminated against in sports?
Yes there are a few groups in every club, but there are more in the bigger clubs.
